A day in the hive

A day in the hive
For this piece, I used some watercolored paints/pencils, colored pencils, acrylic paint, Micron Archival Ink, and a white gel pen. The inspiration for this piece is to show different art technics and put them together. Using the background to my advantage, I painted the honeycomb with watercolor and colored pencils on separate paper. Then I put the letters and the bees on a separate sheet to make it jump off the page a bit.

Artist Statement
Art is my way to escape reality. Others may use reading, writing, and or some form of physical activity as a way to escape, but for me, it's art. When I draw, paint, or write, my emotions take control of me, and my mind wanders to a different place of color and sound. Through my art, I try to connect with people in a new way. Sometimes the thoughts in your head are more complicated to write down for people to understand, so the only other way to get your emotions across to others is just by letting your emotions take over and put them on a canvas in your way.
